Abstract
The Tabernacle of Moses is one of Scripture’s most sustained presentations of divine presence, holiness, atonement, mediation, and covenant order. This article examines the Tabernacle as a historical sanctuary within Israel’s wilderness experience and as a theological pattern that reaches its canonical fulfilment in Jesus Christ. Using a biblical-theological and typological approach, the discussion traces the sanctuary theme from Eden through the Tabernacle and Temple to the incarnation, the Church, and the new creation. It argues that the Tabernacle must be interpreted neither as an obsolete ritual structure nor as a collection of details open to unrestricted allegory. Rather, its architecture, priesthood, sacrifices, and sacred movement form a coherent theological witness that clarifies how a holy God graciously dwells among a redeemed people. The article further develops the Tabernacle’s implications for contemporary Christian worship, leadership, discipleship, spiritual formation, and church governance. These implications include worship ordered by revelation, leadership understood as accountable service, formation grounded in grace, and ecclesial life shaped by holiness, mercy, communion, and mission. The study concludes that a disciplined Christological reading of the Tabernacle can enrich biblical theology and strengthen contemporary ministry, provided that typological claims remain governed by the literary context and the canonical witness of Scripture.
